The Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación and the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) have organised this space for academic exchange, characterised by learning through practical workshops, which seeks to promote intercultural dialogue. The inaugural event, which took place on 15 July, was chaired by Cristina Pulido (Serra Húnter lecturer in the Department of Journalism and researcher at the Gabinete), Samy Tayie (lecturer at the University of Cairo), and Sally Tayie (PhD, UAB and collaborator at the Gabinete). The students listened to lectures by Jordi Gili, telecommunications expert and international speaker, on ‘Leadership in the hyper-connected world’, and Carolina Escudero, PhD in Social Psychology, on ‘Communication and emotions’.

During their stay in Barcelona, Egyptian students will strengthen their communication and audiovisual skills through theoretical classes and practical workshops related to writing for the media and audiovisual and mobile communication. As part of this programme, students will be required to develop and present their own audiovisual projects. They are also complementing their studies with cultural visits to the city and other activities.

The agreement between the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Transportation of Egypt aims to foster intercultural dialogue and synergies between the two institutions.
